If Windows continually boots directly to Safe Mode and you can't make it stop, take a look at the tutorial below and then follow the advice in How to Stop a Safe Mode Loop at the bottom of the page. A kind of 'reverse' of this trick also works to stop Windows from starting in Safe Mode. But, if you need to repeatedly reboot your PC and start in Safe Mode each time, trying to hit that F8 key or restarting from Normal Mode each time gets old. Observing Windows in safe mode enables you to narrow down the source of a problem, and can help you troubleshoot problems on your PC. If a problem doesn't happen in safe mode, this means that default settings and basic device drivers aren't causing the issue. Starting Windows in Safe Mode isn’t terribly difficult. Safe mode starts Windows in a basic state, using a limited set of files and drivers. Assuming there are no remaining issues preventing it, the computer should boot to Windows Vista normally after a restart. Make any changes you need to make and then restart the computer. Entry into Windows Vista Safe Mode should now be complete. Enable the “Safe Boot” check box, and then make sure the “Minimal” option below that is selected. In the “System Configuration” window, switch to the “Boot” tab. Any unnecessary programs and drivers aren't loaded during the boot process. In Windows Vista, when you boot into safe mode, only those things necessary for Windows to start are loaded.
